Move to Attract Show Exhibitors at Bridgetown Society
The Bridgetown Agricultural Society council, in a first meeting for 1948-49, approved extensive showground improvements to attract exhibitors from afar. Plans include reerecting stables near the rent gate, temporary canvas marquees, tree removals, new sheep and pig pens, a second sheep pen row, a new unloading ramp, and boarded pen floors to reduce damage by pigs. Tea room upgrades, improved drainage, and a resumed back road to ease crowding were authorised, with a future memorial building planned and a rebuilt president’s booth.
