Robert E. Garrabrants, longtime Fairfield Republican and civic veteran, died at 2 p.m. yesterday in Bridgeport Hospital after a June 1953 heart attack and a recent illness. He resided at 54 Turney Road and operated the Gas Appliance Exchange on Main Street before joining the Bridgeport Gas Light company and later running a Fairfield real estate agency. He also served as site clerk for housing projects and worked as personnel manager for J.L. Lucas and Son during World War II.
