Printing industry declared not essential in war material policy
Cincinnati Sept 24 That the printing industry is not declared an essential industry but paper making is essential was stated by Thomas G Pennelley chief of the pulp and paper section of the War Industries board in Washington to members of the United Typothetic of America. He said every printer in the county is an agent of the government ordered to save at least a portion of the paper used. If followed, there will be enough paper for required printing. otherwise paper supplies will be cut and the industry suffer. We have limited weights of paper so heavy stock for elegant effects is discontinued during the war and lighter pages and papers must be used.
