Babies of Women Who Smoke Die, Doctors Say
CHICAGO September 24.—Sixty percent of all babies born to cigarette smoking mothers die before age two, mainly from nicotine poisoning, Dr Charles L Barber of Lansing told the annual convention of the American Association for Medico Physical Research. He warned a baby born to a smoking mother is sick, may die within two weeks, and post mortems show degeneration of liver, heart and other organs.
