In Mt Vernon Illinois two witnesses told Judge Pearce that Mrs Elsie Sweetin admitted poisoning her husband Wilford Sweetin. C C Sweetin father of the slain man and Barah Lewis a former reporter questioned the confession's admissibility as the second trial proceeds. Lawrence M Hight, a life term inmate once accused as Mrs Sweetin's accomplice, appeared in court after the jury was excluded.
In Pittsburgh Pa on September 20 two men were killed by gangsters amid a chaotic primary election. Police fought free for all at polling places as gunfire and violence surged. several wounded and officials were brought before the court for alleged election law violations.

London dispatch reports Charles A. Levine plans a trans Atlantic passenger and freight plane built by Columbia Aircraft on Long Island at a cost of 4600,000. The seven engine land plane will carry 50 passengers, a crew of four, freight, and mail with a 180 foot wing spread, cruising 4000 miles at 115 mph. Tickets priced at 2500 dollars. Construction to take nine months. Kartvely and Chagnard to aid. Levine’s eastern flight postponed awaiting favorable winds.
Norwalk deputy sheriff Edward B Dowlens padlocked the Grand Hotel Union on Woodmont street by order of Judge Nehemiah Gardee. Prosecutor Richard H Ireland sought a one year closure under a national prohibition act clause. A October hearing could make the action permanent. the hotel faced repeated liquor trouble including a Sunday raid and seven arrests.
In Dublin on Sept. 20 Associated Press reports Cosgrave’s party leads by four votes over De Valera’s group for largest party in the Dail Eireann. Cosgrave’s government holds a 61 seat tally with allies totaling 70, while Fianna Fáil backs De Valera claim 87 seats with Labor at 13. De Valera, while not personally hostile to Cosgrave, notes no union with labor though shared aims may drive cooperation.

Martin Jensen journeyed back toward Fair Wash Gulch forty miles from Roosevelt to reach Leo the movie stunt rider who remains trapped in a steel barred cage inside the wrecked monoplane. After a 70 hour trek from a crash site in a lone oak clump, Jensen hopes to reach the gulch tonight to tend Leo and arrange meals. The crash occurred when a heavy load of air failed to lift the craft and it slid onto its tail in a narrow defile as the motor wouldn’t reach sufficient height to clear treetops.

Mexico City September 20 The appointment of Dwight W. Morrow of New York as ambassador to Mexico startled the public and drew interest across circles.
