Signal Boxes to Substitute For Myrtle Beach Station
Milford Sept. 11 A Milford board budget shows Myrtle Beach will lack a police station this year. Instead, added signal boxes and lights will be installed at Independence Road and Broadway and Wood Avenue and East Broadway to improve protection. The police budget totals $45,498.40 with salaries at $37,036.50 and no net increase in personnel. The work includes new boxes, hydrants, and an alarm system as part of a broader fire budget plan for Laurel Beach, Bay View, and nearby areas.

Milford Finances Weigh Light Budget for Street Light and Boardwalk
New Haven avenue and Gulf street corner near Milford school may get a street light next summer if the Board of Finance approves police department funding of 108. The board previously refused a similar request. Proponents of Milford boardwalk ask roughly 830,000 for preliminary work, with Judge Jervis D. Brown representing the boardwalk association. Plans call for a boardwalk from Fort Trumbull Beach to Myrtle Beach, with an estimated cost near 8,400 per mile and first mile erected. The Milford budget also covers raises for fire and police officials and new appointments.
