Ten youths arraigned in court for attempted robbery

Ten youths pleaded guilty in Criminal Superior Court before Judge John W. Banks after attempting a burglary at Mandel Stason confectionery. Large Taxpayers Owed $400 900 to Be Forced to Pay

Delinquent taxpayers including 15 property owners face legal action to collect back taxes totaling up to 400 900 with sheriff's fees. A list of names has been sent to Assistant City Attorney Henry Greenstein, and attachments to property may be placed on delinquents. Pershing Retires as Chief of U.S. Forces

Washington reports General Pershing will end his 44 year active service at midnight joining retirement after a farewell luncheon with 185 regular officers in attendance. Auto plunges from bridge into river four escape

At one this morning an automobile with four passengers plunged through open gates of Yellow Mill Bridge into the river. Millard Tirbiter dived in rescuing two, aided by Thomas Twoney and Lewis Condella in a rowboat. Two others swam to safety. two were taken to Bridgeport Hospital. Faulty brakes prevented stopping in time. Names given: Mr and Mrs William Curtiss, Mrs James Pellous, Devon Pellone, and Leonard Pellone aged four.

Agnes Ayres Weds Mexican Attache in Secret Marriage

Officials Grant Requests Add Night Train Between Cities

New timetable on September 28 adds a daily night train from Grand Central to Bridgeport and New Haven via Br genort with a 9 30 p m departure. The move ends a three hour lull and aids west to New York connections and overtime workers. Bridgeport Traffic Association and Chamber of Commerce members welcome the service, crediting B C Cooley and Clinton Ty Bardo for pressuring the road. Train 12387 will replace Waterbury daytime service, with other Waterbury and Sunday trains to be discontinued after August 31.

Putnam Man Succeeds Gilpatric on State Committee

John F. Reardon, Grosvenordale mills agent and Putnam Rotary president, was elected to the Republican State Central committee from the 2Bth Senatorial district by district delegates meeting in Putnam. He succeeds G Harold Gilpatric, former State Treasurer and cashier of the wrecked Putnam bank, who resigned a week ago. Reardon has long been active in Republican affairs in Connecticut.

Truckman Arrested In Rum Delivery Ring
