MacMillan Arctic Expedition Returns to St Johns

The Bowdoin, flagship of the MacMillan Arctic expedition, arrived at Battle Harbor Labrador at 2 PM from Wiscasset Maine. Captain Avnad Halachilan said the voyage was entirely satisfactory. the crew and scientists will sail back to Maine.

Stratford Agrees to Route Traffic to Aid Bridgeport

Stratford plans re routing traffic so through vehicles from New Haven enter Bridgeport via Bainum avenue and Stratford avenue while some trucks will use Barnum Boston and North avenues to ease downtown congestion. Warrant May Be Issued For Firpo Today

Newark N J Sept 10 United States District Court Judge William W Runyan will decide whether to issue a bench warrant for Argentine heavyweight Luis Firpo on a federal Mann act violation charge. Counsel for the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Crime and the Promotion of Public Morals, along with Canon William S Chase and Read Sandler, urged action after Firpo allegedly transported a woman from Atlantic City to New York before last year’s Firpo Dempsey bout. Carpenter Sues Police Over False Arrest and Damages

Michael J Cleary of Westport sues the police commissioner and three Weston officers for 5000 claiming false arrest on August 22. He says he was held 18 hours in Weston custody, charged with driving under the influence and breach of the peace, then transferred to Westport jail without a hearing. Alfred Paine a 49 year old Ridgefield fire department member was sentenced to state prison for setting seven fires including two barns.
