Bridgeport police issued an eight state alarm seeking Harriet La Forest Moon 33 wife of Philadelphia engineer James Moon after she vanished Friday afternoon from the Stratfield hotel with their adopted three year old daughter Carol He said he suspected foul play and believed she had from 1309 to 3000 with her Moon who had been staying at the hotel said he last spoke to her Wednesday from her mother's Decatur home and that she had sold her car for 1300 and would drive his car to Bridgeport See in Atlantic City a friend reported Moon's yellow convertible with a single man aboard was seen yesterday to fuel further searches

In Los Angeles on September 1 AP reports James Dow 19 of Tucson Aziz born without a right lung faced a rare cardiac displacement discovered by Navy doctors. His heart sits under the right armpit due to growth of the upper chest area with double duty. De Milton G Crane of the Naval Recruiting Service noted no risk to his health aside from not entering the navy.
Coast Guard and Bridgeport police recovered eight people from a small oyster boat in Long Island Sound after a Sunday disappearance. They told officers they spent the night at Port Jefferson and were unaware of the search. Names include Max Rajotte and Anna Rajotte with two children, Frank Pieno, Vincent Piero, Mia Elisabeth Shukia, and Florence Pieno.
Police are investigating three break ins that occurred between Saturday night and Monday morning at Garrick company 205 Gilbert Street Sue's Beauty Salon 944 East Main Street and Carl'e Barber Shop 3820 Main Street. No details on the extent of the loss were available yesterday.
A foot cabin cruiser caught fire and burned Sunday near Fairfield beach about 4 40 PM. Three occupants escaped uninjured by diving overboard as flames and an explosion engulfed the vessel, which sank after burning to the waterline. Owner Louis Dix of Bridgeport and two guests, Joseph Besl ove and Edward Beslove, reached shore safely after being picked up or swimming in. Firefighters assisted but could not save the craft, believed ignited by a gas-tank explosion, with the yacht club earlier reporting a shot from Soundview Yacht Club in Black Rock harbor.

A formation of 16 army reserve training planes returned to base after saluting General Eisenhower when two planes in the group collided over Minneapolis. Three officers were killed and debris damaged two other planes which landed safely at Wold-Chamberlain. One occupant parachuted to safety. identities were withheld pending next of kin notices. Witnesses described a tense scene as the pilots attempted landing clearance.
President Truman arrived in Rio de Janeiro to a tumultuous reception, greeted by thousands along crowded streets, guards of honor, and banners. He rode to the Brazilian tour club for a formal welcome, while signs proclaimed Rio de Janeiro welcomes Pres Truman and allies in a display of wartime friendship.
