nineteen crew missing after the concrete steamer Cape Fear sinks within minutes following a collision with the City of Atlanta in Narragansett Bay near Newport Rhode Island. Circus Returns to Bridgeport After Extended Tour

After eight months on the road through most states and parts of Canada, the Barnum & Bailey and Ringling Brothers circus arrived in Bridgeport last night after a 45 hour run from Richmond Virginia. Trains in four sections reached at 7 and 9 pm with one section due in early morning. Animals moved to winter quarters. performers checked into hotels and many will return home in a few days. The tour was one month longer than last year, trailing the cotton market downturn and money shortage in southern cities.
