Carpet firm weighs merger with Amsterdam Mills
James D. Wies, president of Bigelow-Sanford Carpet, said a possible merger with Mena wk Carpet Mills of Amsterdam, N.Y., is being explored. Details remain premature and the talks are exploratory, with many problems to solve before a satisfactory agreement. The company operates mills at both cities and employs about 2,500 workers at each location.
