Domes tic Coal Scalping Found by Trade Body
Washington Oct 18 The Federal Trade Commission traced domestic coal shipments from mines to consumers and found many cases of unusually high profit margins and scalping in the wholesale market. For the week ending September 22 margins ranged from 25 cents a ton up to 73 cents per ton with 8 percent at $1 per ton. The report notes most coal moved through single wholesalers without physical handling and that price marking often passed from dealer to dealer before reaching retailers. New York Oct 1 The Lee Rubber and Tire Corporation today passed its quarterly dividend due at this time. Quarterly payments of 60 cents had been maintained since the dividends were resumed in the spring of 1920.
