Water Power Men Seek Drops in Parks Controversy
Amherst Mass Oct. 14 The federal water power commission will not accept new power permit applications within national parks until Congress reviews the broader issue of development in such areas. J Horace MacFarland of Harrisburg president of the American Civic association announced at the 16th annual convention that Senator Jones plans to push a bill withdrawing parks and monuments from the Water Power Act. He said water power interests claim rights to every drop of water in federal reservations and warned that parks are vulnerable as irrigation advocates push dam projects in Yellowstone and Falls River basin.
