Booth Warns Prices Won't Hold If Artificial Means Persist
Willis H. Booth, vice president of Guaranty Trust Co of New York, told a Chamber of Commerce luncheon that attempting to sustain prices by artificial means is a hopeless battle against the laws of economics. He urged merchants to engage war-won postwar wealth and shift focus to efficiency, rail transportation reform, and cooperative enterprise to lower costs and support domestic prosperity. Booth warned that inflation will ease only with demand adjustments and stronger public partnerships in rail and commerce.
