Seely Brown Warns of Industry Peril if Democrats Win
Rep. Seely Brown of Connecticut’s Second district, a Republican candidate for reelection, warned at a campaign workers’ meeting that Democratic control of Congress would place committees under southern Democrats who discriminate against northern industry. He cited textile firms migrating from Eastern Connecticut and accused southern and southwestern blocs of attempting to steal industries for their regions, calling dispersal a pretext to move jobs abroad. He warned that atomic threats could be used to justify relocating industry away from New England and the Middle Atlantic.
