Salvatore Fazio Named Bridgeport Mayoral Candidate
Bridgeport Republicans last night unanimously nominated Salvatore Fazio of 46 Hayes Street, a 33 year old World War I veteran and former Harding High athlete, for mayor in the November election. The convention also named John Arnold city clerk, Mira Anderson town clerk, Samuel Derman treasurer, Earle Benson to the Board of Education, Joseph Rich registrar of voters, and several selectmen, sheriffs, and other officials. Fazio blasted the McLevy administration, pledging to end financial strain on the city’s schools, fix roads and snow removal, curb wasteful spending, and implement fair wage policies and a reorganized city government with a stronger tax base. The platform calls for eliminating waste, raising municipal wages, and granting independent operation to the Board of Education.

Guard Mobilized In Disaster Test In Bridgeport Armory
The 242nd Anti Aircraft Artillery group of the Connecticut National Guard was called out for a test emergency mobilization in Bridgeport. Governor McConaughy ordered units statewide to armories to gauge speed and readiness for disasters or threats to life and property. Col Franklin K. Boy, 15, stabbed in revenge after water fight
