Texas Klans Parade Fight In Lorena Draws Inquiry

In Lorena Texas a clash between Klansmen and a sheriff posse left ten wounded as an attempted parade was halted by Sheriff Buchanan and deputies. County attorney F B Tierey refused a demand to file charges, saying the grand jury will investigate and no steps will be taken until then. The crowd of 3 146 watched as shots rang out and the flag was seized by taunting assailants before the march dispersed.

Local shoe dealer accused of using counterfeit labels

Jerome J. Donahue 33, of 63 Cole street, proprietor of National Shoe Repair at 720 Main, was surprised by detectives while removing evidence from 394 Madison avenue in an investigation tied to H. H. Saunders Co of Brockton alleging counterfeit rubber heel labels. Bail set at 82,000. a civil action and criminal charge. Police also seized a rubber press, a truckload of rubber heel boxes, and moulds for Neolin rubber.
