Former Bridgeport mayor Robert De Forest died at his home at 983 State Street after a year of ill health. A Democratic leader, he served three mayoral terms beginning in 1878 and later held posts as state senator and judge of the Fairfield County Common Pleas Court. Born February 21 1844 in Guilford he studied at Guilford Academy and Yale before practicing law in Bridgeport. Survived by three sons and a sister, his funeral is set for 2:30 PM Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church.
