Morton Sr. 64 of Emporia Kan and Samuel Doss 58 of Tulsa. Earlier she told investigators she poisoned Ernest Harrelson by tainting his corn whisky. Details of Harley Lanning death to come.

Squirrel Causes Power Outage In North End Trumbull
A squirrel died after hitting a wire at Ox Hill substation causing a short circuit that cut power to about 1,000 homes in the North End and Trumbull from 2:45 to 3:15 pm. Plane crash kills two men in woods near Hartford
In Eastford a private two seater aircraft crashed in Natchaug State Forest during a nighttime flight from Saylesville to Hartford, killing Elmer Nicholson of Hartford and Frederick B. Dodd Jr. of Attleboro. A police search found the wreckage at dawn after a rain night, guided to the scene by Ray Ives who spotted the crash three miles from the nearest road.

Holiday traffic sets new parkway record end of weekend
Toll records fell as thousands of autos clogged the states parkways on the four day Thanksgiving weekend. A 21 year old youth was critically injured in a city crash near Bostwick and Railroad avenues. Merritt Parkway logged 61387 vehicles at Greenwich tolls with multiple rear end collisions and one Stamford crash requiring hospitalization.

Car Crash Injures Man and Girl Near Bostwick and Railroad
Two people were hurt when their car struck a trailer truck at Bostwick and Railroad avenues at around 10 p.m. Joseph Bielski, 21, of 203 Wainwright Place Stratford, remained in critical condition at St. Vincent's Hospital with possible skull fracture and internal injuries. Eileen Middleton, 17, of 228 Wainwright Place Stratford, suffered back injuries and was listed in fairly good condition. Middleton, driving Bielski's car, allegedly ran a red light while attempting to proceed north on Bostwick Avenue, police said. Orlando Amato, the truck driver of West Haven, said he was traveling west on Railroad Avenue. Middleton faced arrest on a charge of violating the state auto law after hospital release, police added.

A two hour blaze at a large three story house on East Main Street near Stratford Avenue caused $35,000 in damage and left 75 people homeless. Seven people were treated for smoke exposure, including Agnes Lesser who was rescued from the third floor. The fire, started by a defective oil burner in Mrs. Lesser’s apartment, spread through the roof and chimney, threatening nearby homes as firemen fought to control the flames.

Sexton kills himself at Trinity Church altar in Simsbury
Alton R. Bolin, 51, Tariffville, a church sexton, shot himself at Trinity Episcopal Church in Simsbury. The body was found by Rev. Norman Howes. A medical examiner ruled death by self-inflicted gunshot. Bolin, married with two children, had been in poor health and despondent.
