Veron ica Salvage Dispute Tops Halifax Admiralty Court
The four masted schooner Veronica is in custody in Halifax after salvage proceedings by the owners of the British Gorderer seeking £325,000. The vessel was towed in by the British ship after a high seas incident with US President Harding’s vessel and a claim that piracy occurred. Captain Grening of the Harding reports British forces claimed the Veronica looted his cargo and navigational instruments and set his ship adrift off Rum Row.
