Mrs Varone Case Nolle In Garage Alcohol Raid
Chemical tests on sealed metal containers seized from Mrs Mary Varone owner of 65 Marcel Street show the cane contained caustic soda rather than denatured alcohol. Only one five gallon can held alcohol unfit for drinking but could be redistilled with caustic soda. Assistant Prosecutor O Lister urged nol pros for charges of violating the liquor law due to lack of proof of ownership. He noted a garage fire drew attention before owners could operate the plant and said it would have been used for wholesale denatured alcohol if not discovered. Mrs Varone claims she knows the renters of the garage and urged nol pros for the alleged renter.
