Deputy Game Warden Ciaries R. Tasbrow, a well known local sportsman, was injured in Danbury hospital after his gun exploded during a hunting trip in New Fairfield on Tuesday. He suffered the loss of one thumb.
An AP report notes a minor earthquake felt in Justport and nearby communities Perry Pembroke and St Stephen on November 24. Tremors lasted seconds with a rumbling like a heavy truck and caused no reported property damage.
Nov. 21 AP reports both PN-10 planes ran out of fuel and were forced to land near Nueva Gerona on the Isle of Pines during a 2,080 mile attempt from Norfolk to Colon. All four crew members are believed safe as carrier Cincinnati reported a broken connecting rod on its starboard engine.
Hobart N. Cook of Noroton Manor Conn shipping clerk was indicted in New York City for grand larceny loss of 47000 from Munson Steamship line and to be arraigned Friday. He lived with wife and three children in Noroton Manor and commuted to New York for work. He was a Tulane graduate class of 1911 active in sports and coaching football.
A Camden City Hall scene ended a marriage elopement when Frances Blessing refused to return to Tikton Maryland, defying her mother and choosing to stay with Russell Blessing in Philadelphia. Police prepared to intervene as the bride, 15, faced stern warnings from her mothers before a tense compromise allowed the couple to remain together.
HARELTON Pa November 24 six men trapped nine days by a flood in Lehigh Valley Coal Company’s Tomhic ken mine were brought out alive to spend Thanksgiving with their families except Charles South who was not yet certain to be alive. The rescued men including Harry Kirchdoerfer assistant foreman and August Yenchick Michael Lawrence John Gondera and John Loriner were in good condition after enduring a week without food or water. They returned to their homes to joyous reunions while Kirchdoerfer’s buoyant spirit kept up morale until news of the others' fate. The rescue caused great excitement across the Lehigh coal field. The six were found in an old breast off the Na & tunnel, not No 16 as expected. Kirchdoerfer heard the cave-in and guided the others through rising waters to safety. (Continued on Page Nine.)

Senator Bingham Republican Connecticut introduces a bill to establish a permanent local government for the Virgin Islands. It would grant citizenship to about 28,090 natives and create a stable framework, making St Thomas a free port and continuing the tax status on sugar exports to the United States. The islands were purchased from Denmark in 1910.

Stamford November 24 Special William O Keefe 48 a laborer for the New York New Haven Hartford railroad was struck by a train while walking along the tracks toward the Glenbrook ramp. He was thrown fifteen feet, sustaining a broken arm and eye socket skull and shoulder fractures and minor bruises. A pint bottle of whiskey in his pocket survived the crash and another bottle in his hand was found intact at his side. Engineer William McCarthy and conductor John Hugen were aboard the train.
In Stamford on November 24 Mr and Mrs John Morck were found with beer and various whiskies in their kitchen during a police raid on their hoarding house at Atlantic Street. The liquor was claimed to be for their daughter's wedding and not for sale, and the couple was released on bail of 500 pounds each.

A 20 year old unnamed Brooks street girl charges Dr Isidor Vochelman of 49 Noble Avenue with performing a criminal operation. The girl, moved from Vochelman's office, was found in an unheated room with a coat over the bed as police sought a married woman. The prosecuting attorney said Vochelman would likely be arrested today. Witnesses were questioned by Assistant Prosecutor Marenne Lister. Danbury and Bethel residents lost streetcar service as a midnight strike by Danbury and Transportation Company workers expanded with bar crews joining in. Eight new buses were ready to operate once permits and operators are secured, while power-plant workers discussed joining the stoppage.
A meeting of the Finance committee heard a determination to raise the chest to 340000. With 34000 left, officials expect completion within a week or 16 days. Hoth Summer Simpson and Clarence King led the drive as cards are checked and 54 workers continue canvassing to support 23 agencies. Total collected and pledged reached 325978.
State canvass shows Fairfield County with 58.96 percent of enrolled voters casting ballots in November, the lowest among eight counties. Middlesex led with 75.61 percent, while totals for New Haven, Litchfield, New London, Windham, Hartford, and Tolland ranged from 61.12 to 67.62 percent. The Socialist ticket average stayed just over 1 percent, with Helen Gilman seeking state secretary.
