300-Pound Steeplejack Dangles Then Falls to Death

Fire crews freed him, but the 300 pound man fell 100 feet and died eight hours later at Johns Hopkins Hospital from multiple fatal injuries including a fractured skull and broken limbs.

Donal M. Collimore former Fairfield policeman won the Fairfield Republican Town committee endorsement for assistant prosecutor of the Fairfield Town court at Mill Plain school. He defeated Melvin Fennell 23 to 19. The panel backs Ronald B. MacKenzie as chair to name the prosecutor with Julius N. Smith resigning December 1 to become Fairfield Probate Court judge on January 1. Judge Samuel E. Friedman supported the endorsement and said Collimore would be named to the court post. The job pays 1250 dollars and may be replaced July 1 by Democratic appointees. Collimore studied for his law degree while a police sergeant.

In Norwalk a 79-year-old woman, Mrs Rosanne Meunier of Elis Street, was fatally injured when struck while crossing New Canaan Avenue near Bartlett Avenue after alighting from a bus. She suffered neck and leg injuries and died at Norwalk Hospital. The driver, Norman Traylor, 45, of South Norwalk, a New York postal clerk, was charged with driving so as to cause loss of life and released for a Dec 3 court appearance.
