Milford man found dead after forest fire near Brunt Plain

Milford resident John Gammon, about 45, was found dead in an orchard adjoining Frank N. Platt’s Brunt Plain road farm after a forest fire swept the area. Medical Examiner Wy. Fisher ruled death due to heart trouble or apoplexy, noting the body was found amid burned brush with clothing burned but not charred. Gammon had been sent to fetch cows and did not return, prompting a search that located him at 3:30 a.m. amid the scorched plot.
