Ski Queen Jean Woerner Named by Bridgeport Ski Chapter
Jean Woerner a 21 year old from Trumbull was chosen as Ski Queen by the Bridgeport YMCA Connecticut Ski council chapter after a contest with 35 entrants at the Park House YMCA. She will represent the chapter in the State Ski Queen competition November 27 in Hartford. Woerner a Harding High School and Green Mountain Junior College graduate works for Southern New England Telephone. The event featured a ski fashion show and was directed by George Wells with over 75 members in attendance.

Carter Wins Lightweight Title With Last-Round KO
Jimmy Carter defeated Paddy DeMarco of Brooklyn by technical knockout in the 15th round at the Cow Palace to regain the world lightweight title. Easton Defeats School Proposal In 525 515 Referendum
Easton voters rejected a 10 room junior high with 300 beds, voting 525 to 515 against the plan and 573 to 454 against adding a gym auditorium. Turnout was 1,017 of 1,529 registered voters with a recount changing two ballots. Opponents included Andrew LaCroix, while Richard Bodine led the planning committee.
