The Senate passed a 6.70 billion foreign aid measure by 64 to 10 after trimming 200 million from the administration bill. Long's 200 million across the board cut was adopted 37 to 34. the bill heads to conference with the House.
Official Weather data indicates fair and warmer conditions for Bridgeport today with highs near 75 and a low around 55 tonight. Friday will stay fair and warm at about 70. New York City remains cloudy today and will clear to fair.
Senate investigators said a communist diplomat sought sensitive information at all male parties in his apartment. The witness, Joseph Molnar, described Florin as host, with parties used to gather intelligence. The story, once secret, was released with other testimony about diplomats abusing immunity in the United States.
Rich ard B. Russell edged W Averell Harriman to seize the No 2 delegate spot behind Estes Kefauver in the Democratic sweepstakes. Taft led the Republican field with 405 delegates, Eisenhower 385, and Stassen 26. Florida’s 24 delegates stay undecided as nationwide tallies show Kefauver 122, Russell 86.5, Harriman 85.5. Taft expected to grow his lead with votes in coming days and aims to win South Dakota on June 3. Eisenhower to receive a full ceremonial welcome on his return to the United States. The Pentagon and Defense Department prepared modest notices amid political timing.
Vandals smashed a collection of rare bird eggs at Unquowa School on Stratfield Road Tuesday night. The eggs, gathered over 18 years and bequeathed by Harvard ornithology professor Wilfred Dunbar, were catalogued in two files and some smashed on floors and walls. Police investigated entry as undetermined and noted ransacked desks and ruined films, with no items missing.

One rioter killed and about 80 injured. 600 arrested among thousands gathered. Brune pledged France remains in control and warned of a sustained conspiracy by Communist troops. If detail needed: police recovered a loaded revolver, a blackjack, a radio receiver and carrier pigeons from Duclos’ car.
Berlin travel plummeted as Soviet zone moves tighten controls. West Berlin travel bookings fell 30 to 40 percent while Germans hunkered down to avoid new curbs after the West German peace treaty and European army pact. An East German decree requires a special permit for visitors to the Soviet zone, with the Bonn republic front line entrenchments creating a no-man's-land along the frontier.
Mayor McLevy said he is studying the southern route announced by State Highway Commissioner G Albert Hill for a city thruway. He withheld details but noted the line generally follows the Bridgeport area plan the city favors. Senator Samuel J Tedesco and Rep Milton E J Reinhard Jr report protests from property owners along the proposed route and plan a protest meeting in the East End within two weeks. The Barnum Hop an all teen feature of the 1952 Barnum Festival drew 16 students from eight area secondary schools and youth groups at the Hotel Barnum. Rocky Clark WNHC TV news editor and Conne cticut jazz host chaired the event with Thomas Frouge festival grand marshal stressing youth participation for a successful festival. The dance will be July 5 from 8 pm to midnight at Pleasure Beach ballroom with unlimited entries across five contests.
