Two convicts Robert Mandell and Joseph Rose fled the Connecticut State Prison at Wethersfield during a baseball game, breaking through a rear fence. Police set roadblocks as guards searched nearby grounds and riverbanks. both men, from Bridgeport, were serving terms for robbery with violence and had prior escapes.
