Two Girls Hurt in Capitol Ave Auto Crash
Two girls aged eight and ten were seriously injured when struck by a westbound car on Capitol Avenue near Madison Avenue about 8:30 PM. Barbara Salvo and Evelyn Convertito, cousins from Trumbull and Stratford, were admitted to St. Vincent's Hospital with fractures and head injuries. The driver, David Phelan of Lincoln Avenue, swerved and struck them as they darted into the street. Capitol Avenue traffic was halted while police mapped the scene.

Four Men Seized at Astor Luncheonette Dice Game Raid
Police raided a cellar craps game at the Astor Luncheonette 459 East Main Street before 11 pm last night, arresting 14 men on gambling charges. Captain John P. Carroll led the raid with detectives Wilbur Burge and James V. Fitzgerald. Felix Gonzales, 30, of 457 East Main Street, charged as keeper with $500 bond. Miguel Echeuar tia, 34, of 150 Bostwick Avenue, charged with frequenting and possession of lottery tickets, bond $200. Several others released on bonds of $50 each following similar charges.

Conducting the firing was the Army's 40th field artillery group Redstone, trained at Redstone Arsenal Huntsville Ala for the past year. It was the grade firing for battery A and signals readiness to man the missile in the field. The Redstone helped place two Explorer satellites into orbit as the first stage of the Jupiter C vehicle, roared off at 703 p.m. EST with a large yellow flame visible at the base.

Harrison G. Streeter 77 of 3026 Main Street Bridgeport, principal in Bridgeport public schools for 28 years retired in 1951, died yesterday at Carlton Convalescent Hospital Fairfield after seven months as a patient. He had been Shelton Junior High principal 30 years prior to retirement, born in Pattenburg New Jersey, began teaching in Hampton New Jersey where he headed a high school in 1906, later Hampton superintendent, came to Bridgeport in 1913 as Maplewood Junior High principal for eight years, earned a master's in educational administration at Columbia in 1916, also led Congress Junior High before annexation to Central High. An avid traveler and writer, he lectured in Bridgeport on West travels, published short stories in major magazines in the 1920s and wrote for the Bridgeport Post. He was a director of Park City Home Saving and Loan, member of Algonquin Club, and former member of Obed Grotto and Kiwanis. He is survived by wife Helen Underwood Streeter and son Paul C. Streeter of Wilton.
