Three GIs Accused of Murdering Two Germans Win Separate Trials
MERNBERG Germany May 13 AP Three young American soldiers accused of murdering two Germans won separate trials today in a court martial in the same room where Nazi leaders were tried. Pvt John F Vigneault 19 of Goffs Falls NH pleaded innocent as German witnesses testified he and another soldier were seen in a car with two Germans shot to death on a highway near Neustadt. The case could hinge on which man fired the fatal shots while Mierzwik 20 of Belton Texas was ruled an accessory and faced the same charge. The double killing amid West German alliance efforts drew German demands for stern punishment.
