Peter D Defazi 26 of West Roxbury Mass got 18 months for stealing and transporting the same cars. The case grew from a Bridgeport area car theft ring investigated by local and federal officers. Separately a Senate Elections subcommittee paused public questions on Sen Joseph McCarthy amid a line of testimony about kickbacks and a $10 000 Lustron payment for a housing article with related debts to Appleton bank.

Policeman Injured in Three Car Chain Collision
A radio patrolman was injured and seven others escaped harm in a four o clock three car crash at South avenue and Main street. Patrolman John J. LaScalle, 32, of 118 Marion street, was taken to Emergency hospital for back and neck injuries and ordered to rest at home. The incident began when the patrol car driven by Patrolman Albert DeLucia, 39, was rear ended by Leo Evans, 33, of 5 Bouton street, South Norwalk, while stopped behind a line of vehicles.

Parking meter receipts rise in year end report
Parking meter receipts totaled 102758.28 for the year from March 31, 1951 to April 1, 1952 per the annual report of Police Supt. John A. Lyddy presented to the Board of Police Commissioners. Receipts were up 8660 from the prior year. The report also shows 69649 from parking ordinance violations versus 43434 in 1950-51 and notes increases in drunkenness and gambling arrests. A total of 5491 motor vehicle law arrests occurred, up from 4515, with 2029 drunkenness arrests, 46 liquor violations, 49 policy playing, 46 thefts, 108 vagrants, and 1052 breaches of the peace.
