Town Spelling and Speaking Contest Highlights May Schedule
The town plans its annual spelling and speaking contest at the town hall on May 12 with a speaker and speller from each school. Winners advance to the district contest in New Milford on May 18. Mrs Benedict hosts a Congregational ladies meeting to discuss summer plans and attendance is hoped to be strong.

Man Struck by Car Escapes Serious Injury
Warren Bulinsky seventy of 275 Lexington Avenue was struck and knocked down by a machine while crossing State Street near Middle Street around 10 30 yesterday. He was taken home in the city ambulance after Dr Mark Gildea examined him and found him not seriously injured.

Police Fire At Car In Darien. Passengers Missing
Stamford May 9 AP At tempting to stop a speeding automobile in Darien early today police fired several shots. The car was later found in Norden with the two men who had been in it not located. The car is believed stolen and belongs to Augustine Marcians of Waterbury.
