Two Die and Two Hurt After Wilton Road Crash

In a head-on collision on Wilton Turnpike a barrel of gas exploded, fatally burning Agoes of Georgia and Ancona of Georgetown while two others, Laxane Tongale and one more passenger, suffered serious burns. The injured were taken to a hospital. investigators said none were under the influence.

Duke of York Opens Australia's Capitol

The Duke of York formally opened the new temporary Parliament building in Canberra as part of his royal tour. Duchess of York attended with officials as Prime Minister Stanley Bruce and Governor General Lord Stonehaven were present. Dame Melba sang as troops paraded and planes were flown overhead. The Duke conferred honours on Prime Minister Bruce and others involved.

Bridgeport Payroll Theft Leads to Arrests

In Bridgeport Connecticut a payroll of 1939 dollars was found on a suspect named Gerhardt who claimed he could not keep the money from police. He said his cousin pressured him as he confessed to selling the police payroll. Local officers traced the funds and searched for missing accomplices.

Harvard Refuses 60000 Bequest for Eugenics Course
