Heavy fine imposed on jitney driver in city court
Nicholls Russo of Bruce Avenue Stratford, veteran, received a five day sentence and a 100 fine with costs for reckless driving after a jitney collision on Wilk Number 7 Chemical Company site. Four firemen and eight passengers were injured. jail term suspended as Russo faced speeding before signaling to stop.

Youth Promises to Marry Young Stamford Girl
Three cases heard by Judge Haines in the morning session include Edaward Haight a Stamford man 23 promised to wed a 15 year old girl with parental consent. A one year sentence in jail was suspended and he was paroled in custody. Also Charles Hamilton Congregational minister of Stamford pleaded guilty to a statutory offense and was paroled for one year. Peter Sanas a 64 year old watch repairer pleaded guilty to accepting money earned immorally from a woman. Accusations tied to 18-year-old Mary Gosh of Beacon Falls led to his remand.

Governor Vex signed the state prohibition enforcement act in Boston on May 9.
