Bridgeport Man Held in Gotham on Swindle Count

New York on May 10 David A. Rothman a 29 year old Bridgeport man was held in Washington Heights court on a swindle charge after police say he passed bad checks totaling about eight thousand dollars. Witnesses including cigar dealer Reuben Seligman and pharmacist Maxwell Gichtman testified Rothman cashed checks for small sums then presented others that bounced. Rothman allegedly obtained cash and goods through checks to friends and acquaintances, with investigators tracing the scheme through multiple victims and dates.

KRNT May 10 Fred A Carter 19, who vanished from Miss Jess ie Barker’s home and whose body was found by the Housatonic River Bridge three weeks later, died by his own action. County Detective Antonio Tomanio of Iilmfield County and state Attorney Walter Holcomb announced after days of inquiry. The investigation questioned many residents and focused on Miss Barker and Miss Hatch, whose secrecy fed foul-play rumors. The detective’s finding ends the foul-play speculation though details remain.

Self Confessed Auto Mobile Thief Sentenced in Fairfield County

Eugene Ledoux, 28, bootlegger, car thief and jail breaker, returned to Southport after escape, was sentenced to five to eight years in state prison for auto theft and up to two years for jail breaking.
