BAMBLE CREEK Mich May 9 Congressman Willan H Frankhauser of the Third BaFiewigen district committed death by own action in a sanitarium here this afternoon by cutting his throat with a razor. He was found in bath tub by his attendant after slashing his throat. Despondency over ill health is believed to have prompted the act.
East Hartford on May 1 reported that sixty seven workers returned at the NW NS H and H railroad shops. The returnees include forty seven car repairers ten apprentices one painter three pipers and five millhands with seniority rights observed and about 140 still laid off. The move restores about half the staff to the previous wage as the rest prepare to be recalled soon.
The Public Utilities Commission rules Danbury Gas and Light Co meter charges and domestic rates are unreasonable and orders cuts by June 1. City of Danbury and Bethel filed the complaint, represented by J Moss Ives and Samuel A Davis. Gas meter charge drops from 50 to 25 cents per meter. domestic gas from 3.0 to 2.50 per thousand cu ft. prepayment meters down 50 cents per thousand cu ft. industrial rate set at 31.54 per thousand cubic feet.
Dr. Jink Wo Thomas, 48, editor of the Quarterly Review of the Methodist Episcopal Church South and prominent national church figure, hanged himself near his home in ROWLING GREEN Kentucky after long insomnia. He had served several pastorates and was once presiding elder of the Louisville District.
Rome report states former finance minister and ex treasurer, Signor Tedesco, died by suicide after jumping from a window. He reportedly suffered from a chronic condition.
The Anchor Algerigua arriving from Glasgow reports two cabin passengers died by own action during the voyage. Pat MecLaughlo bound for Worcester MA and Walter Forbes of 150 Levetravehue Detroit both jumped overboard.
The Department of Agriculture issued a forecast showing winter wheat acreage down but yields high, estimating a national crop of 29,257,000 bushels, about 6,006,006 more than a month prior. Abandonment reached a high for major states. Nebraska and Oldaheon's output lagged, while Illinois, Indiana, Missouri saw increases around 10,000,000 bushels above 1926.
Four year old George Deri of 16 Strie Street Extension fell from the creek bank while fishing near the Fairfield Bridgeport Heel and drowned.
