Store Owner Beaten and Robbed on West Avenue
Peter Henry 57 operator of the John and West Food Store at 456 West Avenue was severely assaulted and robbed of 60 dollars by a bandit with a women accomplice just before 10 pm. Henry was hospitalized for treatment and observation after the attack behind the counter. The couple fled on foot. police set roadblocks to catch them as Henry named a light-skinned Negro woman with a long coat and a man described as about 46 years old as the pair. Henry lives at 195 Cottage Street.

Priest Stephen Grohol Dies After Long Illness in New Jersey
The Rev. Stephen J. Grohol aged 67, longtime pastor of Holy Name of Jesus in Stratford from 1932 to 1937, died yesterday at Alexandra Brothers hospital in Elizabeth New Jersey after a prolonged illness. A native of Bridgeport he served in New Britain before Stratford and later Niantic and East Lyme. He was ordained June 6 1914 by Bishop J J Nilan of Hartford and began at Sacred Heart New Britain, later leading All Saints. He spent years in Gloucester House Massachusetts and St Joseph's Villa New Jersey before hospital admission.

Thomas Albert Dwight Jones Jr., 45, president of the T A D Jones company of New Haven Connecticut, died in Tokyo on a business trip. An autopsy was planned after a Japanese physician attributed death to possible cerebral hemorrhage or heart attack.
