Norman Colborne of Stratford says a single engine Cherokee plane he flew near St Vincent’s hospital carried red and green lights and a flashing red light. Nearby witnesses Gary DeCarlo and Daniel Romo report seeing the object while driving on Main Street near the hospital.
The Parks and Recreation square dance unit hosted outreach exhibitions to boost interest in a modern square dance school at Thomas Hooker school each Wednesday night. February total participation reached 18,125, led by recreation centers and basketball leagues, with 125 students at Hooker for seventh and eighth graders and 17 Hooker Teen club members attending a Broadway show.

The Bridgeport police logged a theft of between 660 and 700 dollars in coins from a parked cigarette vending machine truck in the North End. Alexander Rich reported the loss after returning to the vehicle on Main Street near 1957. The theft occurred around 4 30 p m and followed a prior similar incident three weeks earlier.
Stratford Council approves a seven percent pay hike for town aides planned above a five percent base. Each additional one percent costs $25 000, bringing the seven percent rise to $56 000 for the year. He offered transportation and legal support to enter the United States, while Stalina holds a 90 day Swiss tourist visa and her location is kept secret by Swiss police.
Svetlana Stalin, 42, arrived in Geneva on a three month Swiss visa and requested protection from media. Swiss Justice Minister Ludwig von Moos said a heavy guard will shield her, with the possibility of visa extension. US officials said she should decide in her own way and that US admission policy for defectors remains unchanged.

Victor Muscat announced the sale of 140 acres in Greenwich Connecticut to American Can Corp to establish its new corporate headquarters. The deal, not disclosed in price, plans to employ 1,800 workers initially and later, with relocation from 109 Park Avenue to Greenwich within a year. The land on King Street near Route 88 was previously held by Muscat, chairman and president of Defiance Industries Inc, as an individual investment.
Pentagon figures show about 7,000 GIs went AWOL in Vietnam last year, about 28 per 1,000 in the war zone, while worldwide rates rise to over 50 per 1,000. Officials attribute increases to more draftees and war controversy, noting some cases end in desertion after 30 days.
Mrs Charlotte White Rauscher widow of William C Rauscher of Stratford was killed in an auto crash in Mount Dora Florida. Her sister Mrs Rosalie Schweizer was seriously injured. Survivors include a son and two daughters, and nine grandchildren. Services Friday at Dennis and DArcy funeral home Stratford with burial in Lakeview cemetery.
Researchers describe injecting gamma globulin into RH negative mothers at delivery to erase the baby's red blood cells as a sensitizing event. The method, tested on volunteers including Baltimore City Jail prisoners, aims to prevent antibodies forming and prior treatment of newborn blood incompatibilities. About 15 percent of people carry RH factors. high risk RH negative mothers number about 15 percent of that group and roughly 10 percent lose babies without this approach. The cost per injection is about 2000 dollars and FDA approval had not been granted.
