Robbery at Wilton Involves Fake IRS Agent and Kidnapping

Two Emery Air Freight executives were robbed of 7900 in cash by a man posing as an Internal Revenue agent. They were later found unharmed after being held for two hours in the trunk of a car in Wilton center. The bandit, described as a 25 year old white male with blond hair, was linked to a similar February 2 hijacking in Hamden.

New Haven Bomb Plot Guilty Verdicts and Acquittals

Two men Ronald Johnson 25 and Harry Bonner 29 both of New Haven were found guilty on charges tied to a plot to blow up public buildings and injure police. Curtis Belton 22 and Willis Brooks 31 were acquitted. The trial began Feb 6 with six defendants. James Cotter 28 pleaded guilty. Alonzo Russell 27 was excused.

Twenty Die In Bus Car Crash On Rainy California Highway

Twenty persons were killed and ten injured in a fiery Greyhound bus crash on Interstate 15 near Baker California. Investigators say the bus pulled out to pass and collided head on with a wrong way Chevrolet in the eastbound lane on a rain slick road. The bus overturned and burst into flames. firefighters could not approach initially. First responders included telephone workers from Baker who helped transport the injured to Barstow Community Hospital.

Calumet Louisiana rescuers pressed deeper into the salt mine caverns for 21 miners trapped nearly two days after a Tuesday night fire. Three rescuers were pulled to safety from 1 200 feet deep. another team descended despite lean oxygen packs, reporting no flames and awaiting clarification on the missing workers.
