Embalmers Balk at Appointment In Massachusetts
Massachusetts funeral directors protested the confirmation of Willard P. Staples to the state board of embalming registration. They accused him of using the state seal to influence students in 1945. Staples defended the action as a mistaken attempt related to a pending bill. Secretary Briggs rebutted the claim, while Staples claimed the board sought control. In London, Mrs Churchill was injured in a motor crash in Kensington, bruised and shocked but reported improving.
