Eight Divorces Granted by Judge Maltbie
Judge W. M. Maltbie granted eight divorces in the Superior Court yesterday. Elsie J. Church of Greenwich, defendant in a suit by Alfred Whitney Church, was granted a decree on her own petition for desertion dated March 12, 1919. German Railways Remain Europe’s Largest System
Berlin June 8. The German state owned railway network, used as a reparations guarantee, is the world’s largest in ownership and fourth in mileage. The system covers 57 545 kilometers and leads Europe despite losing 7 400 kilometers in the war. The, federal government bought the lines in 1920 for about 40 billion marks, with experts valuing them at around 30 billion gold marks. If tariff reform aligns with exchange rates, the railways may become paying, though current deficits are steep.
