East German Zeiss Loses Trademark Use Fight

The Supreme Court denied a one line order in the case over Zeiss trademark rights. A long postwar legal battle linked to the East German Zeiss firms and West Germany Zeiss, with US distributors and imports involved. The ruling cited private international law and noted East German Zeiss sales in the United States totaled about 6.4 million dollars from 1950 to 1966.
