Reds Deny North Vietnamese POW Repatriation Offer Sham
Paris dispatch reports North Vietnam claims South Vietnam’s offer to repatriate sick and wounded POWs was a sham, with Saigon denying only 13 wished to return. Swiss Red Cross delegates confirmed 13 of 620 prisoners wanted to go home, while Saigon said 91 more sick POWs refused. Vietnamese and U.S. officials warned against coercion and called for free choice of residence for those held.
