Contempt proceedings opened against Bernard Goldfine

A House subcommittee recommended contempt charges against Boston magnate Bernard Goldfine for refusing to answer 23 questions on his financial dealings. In Port au Prince a bold coup against President Francois Duvalier failed as gun battles erupted near the national palace.
