Bridgeport Ambulance Refused At Stratford Scene

Special Patrick Giannotti 32 of New Haven fatally injured early Sunday when his motorcycle with sidecar struck a telephone pole on Lordship road Stratford near Bridgeport line. Mottl, also from New Haven, was in the sidecar and survived. Stratford ambulance was unavailable. Bridgeport police and local residents aided. Kenney of Bridgeport escaped serious injury in a separate Ferry Boulevard crash.

Meteor Crew Refuses to Leave Ship Off Block Island

At Block Island Rhode Island on July 11 the steamer Meteor with 22 crew and 3500 tons of soft coal remained aboard as it grounded in fog. The vessel sits on a ledge 150 yards offshore and half its bottom exposed, with the engine room breached and rising tides threatening its stability. Believe Heat Killed Springford in Bridgeport Death

Up to three o'clock this morning warrants for arrest for failure to pay personal taxes had been served on 14 people. They will be arraigned in court this morning. Veterans lead Paris debt protest parade against Washington treaty

War veterans marching with wheelchairs and wives led a 12000 strong protest through Paris against the Washington debt settlement. The march went along the Champs Elysees and Arc de Triomphe, with wreaths placed at the Alan Se2ger monument and at the George Washington statue. A plaque calling for revision of the France American debt settlement was stolen by plainclothes police. Authorities kept order as thousands watched along the route.

Emelia Gade Carson, formerly Emilia Gade of New York, completes the Dover to Ramsgate channel swim, 20 miles in 6 hours 20 minutes, first American woman to do so though saltwater blindspot slows her at the end. Aged Danbury Man Kills Self With Razor

Banbury July 11 A 72 year old man Freserick Widman of Austin street died en route to Danbury hospital after slashing his throat with a razor in a moment of insanity. The self inflicted wound severed his windpipe and proved fatal minutes later. Neighbors alerted police and ambulance after hearing screams. Survived by son Frank Widman a forist of Danbury.

Racing Cars Crash Kills Two at Ascot Speedway

Ten persons died two were seriously injured and others sustained minor injuries in a crash at Ascot speedway Los Angeles. The deceased include Sergeant J D Cornwall fifty two policy officer and Nick Glehelmi one of the racing drivers. Body Found in Connecticut River Noted as Possible Murder

In Middletown July 11 CAP reports a man’s body pulled from the Connecticut River near the Standard Oil warehouse. Two boys, George Mizel and Stanley Radziwen, found the corpse while swimming. The body showed signs of strangulation and had been in the water about two to three weeks. identity remained unknown. The man wore a work shirt, trousers, shoes and carried a watch, with a ring on a finger.

Fairfield officers to hike 100 miles from Bridgeport

Thirty officers from Fairfield County with the 418th Infantry under Lt Col Ro H DeLacour depart Bridgeport at 7 am for a two week, 190 mile training hike to Titchfield. Missing Stratford Girl Found After Disappearance

Martha Radwieck sixteen was located yesterday by Bridgeport Motorcycle Officer Rutolph Ludwig. She had vanished three weeks earlier from Stratford, living at Arthur Wheeler in Lone Hill and working in a Bridgeport home. Her father had placed an ad in the Telegram prompting contact. She asked to change employment and was taken back to Stratford, then Bridgeport police restored her to her city home.

Marine in Dover for Target Practice

Private Ephraim Ervin of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, a marine in a detachment sent to Dover for target practice, recounts the Dover explosion. Navy Commander Loses Eyesight in Depot Fire

Captain Dowling commander of the Naval munitions depot at Lake Denmark New Jersey was operated on at the Brooklyn Naval Hospital tonight to save his sight after being blinded while fighting flames from initial explosions. Lt Cmdr Paul Albright performed the operation and reported doubt about restoring sight.
