New York July 8 The 61 000 000 libel suit against Henry Ford may be settled out of court in return for Ford ordering permanent discontinuance of all articles hostile to the Jewish people The Dearborn Independent and its editor had not been notified of any policy change Aaron Sapiro said negotiations were under way to drop the suit and Ford hoped his abandonment of anti Jewish attacks would lessen the harm The suit had been declared a mistrial and would go to trial again Jewish and Gentile leaders viewed the statement as a blow to anti Semitism and a move to clear Ford’s name The Jewish Daily Forward noted the development.
George R Tweedy, longtime Danbury hat manufacturer and son of Edmund Tweedy, died at his home 166 Deerhill Avenue after an apoplectic stroke. A cousin of Arthur E Tweedy of Tweedy Silk Mill, Tweedy led the family business after his father's death and was connected with A W Burchard, a former GE VP and Standard Oil official.

Friends of Mrs. Richard Gilpin Wood Jr. of Bryn Mawr Pa formerly Mrs Helen Clucas who summered in Fairfield heard she died yesterday in Philadelphia. She was a popular Fairfield summer figure before her marriage to a Pennsylvania steel mill owner and the Clucas summer home stood on the site of the present Unquowa hotel.
In Croydon England Mia Chamberlin of Behison Iowa greets her son Clarence Chamberlin after his record breaking trans Atlantic flight with Charles Levine. He hugs his mother and nephew then tutors Maurice Drouhin as Levine and Drouhin plan a westward ocean flight from Le Bourget.
The trial of W. G. Acree principal of Stephens County High School and local church leader charged with aiding a flogging of Mrs. Ainsley Bowers and her 35 year old son on June 12 went to the jury in Toccoa Georgia.
In Philadelphia on July 8, the U S Department of Justice ruled that Stephen Suman must finish a 25 year federal mail robbery term at Atlanta Penitentiary before beginning his Pennsylvania life sentence for the 1925 murder of his wife and wounding of his mother in law. He was later linked to a mail truck robbery in Massachusetts, convicted there, and sent to Atlanta for 98 years. A plan to grant Pennsylvania jurisdiction was rejected. he will be turned over to Pennsylvania after federal term.
