Greenwich July 3 Associated Press Mrs Ind W Henry of Sound Beach received the Distinguished Service Medal from the War Department for her son Captain Clifford W Henry who earned bravery under fire in World War I. Presented by Major General Edwards, the ceremony honored Henry who commanded Co F 102nd Infantry and helped seize Vig nuelles before being killed following a blast. Harvard graduate, he was among many officers and notables at the estate of Herbert L Batterlee as the Greenwich American Legion marched on the lawn.

Waits in Office to Catch Thieves in Newark Man Slain
Newark July 3 John Warner fifty eight known as animal man and proprietor of a noted private menagerie was found murdered in his office. He had gone to lay in wait for thieves who had been stealing stock from the menagerie. His skull was crushed by blows from a sledge hammer found beside the body. The office telephone lay by him and was disconnected, leading police to believe he had tried to call for aid after possibly capturing the marauder. No clue to the murderer was found beyond the weapon.
