George M. Eames urged Bridgeport Aldermen to approve a plan to remand rent and abate island taxes to save Pleasure Beach from closure. He warned unpaid debts could force court receivership and sale of boats and docks if no new funding and a restructured eight year cooperation were arranged with creditors and investors.
William H. Johnston, president of the International Association of Machinists, telegrammed New York Connecticut Rhode Island and Massachusetts governors urging action to avert a traffic breakdown on the New York New Haven and Hartford railroad. He said a shop strike settlement could revive the line within a month. Johnston sits on the AFL railway employee department board. The Lew Haven road strike began July 1.
Albert time nine son of Mrs Susie Time of 20 Howard avenues lies dying at St Vincent's hospital from a skull fracture after colliding with a car on Fairfield avenue near Whittier street yesterday afternoon. Bert Sebas 1429 Fairfield driver said the boy crossed with a sled and walked into the car. He was rushed to the hospital by Dr. Davis of Emergency staff with his death expected hourly.
An unidentified motorist speeding on State street struck a man believed to be George Palloti a Connecticut company switch tender near Park avenue just after midnight. He was taken to St Vincent's hospital in an emergency ambulance with a fractured skull and is listed in serious condition. Police cannot identify him from the scene as he was semi conscious and unable to provide details. company officials search records for his name and address.
