Many Arrested In Guatemala, Another Murder

The Guatemalan wave of violence left five Americans dead on Tuesday and a second day of fighting. U.S. officials reported Col John Weber Jr. and Lt Cmdr Ernest Munro were killed near the INS headquarters as a clandestine FAR communique blamed U.S. missions for instigating guerrilla killings. Several other Americans were wounded or detained as authorities tightened martial law.

Suspect Charged With Murder of Bloomfield Cop

A murder charge was filed in Connecticut over the killing of Bloomfield police lieutenant Beaupre. He, a 12 year Bloomfield officer and father of three, was slain in Springfield. The suspect’s return to Connecticut was unlikely until the case’s final disposition.

Cops Nab Trio After Fairfield Coin Burglary

Officers captured three suspects after a coin burglary in Fairfield. A vigilant chase through Kings Highway and nearby streets ended with arrests near Fiske Street and at the Ballantine Beer distribution center. Suspects offered no resistance and were taken to police headquarters.
