Stamford residents Carl Shanahan and Michael Butler fundraised, aiming to bring Barrett and his four children to the United States for treatment. costs may reach $10,000 with over $1,000 raised so far. Mrs Barrett joined her husband in Pittsburgh, travel funded by an Irish airline.

A Stamford bank was robbed of about $6,200 as cash drawers were rifled. Mrs. McMahon described a robber with a peculiar accent possibly Slavic. No getaway vehicle seen. This marked the second bank holdup in two years and the second major Stamford robbery in three weeks. A suspect, Richard Serricchio, 24, was captured hours later and remained in custody after psychiatric treatment at Fair-Held Hills State Hospital in Newtown.

The council approved a land exchange with the Brass Company as it expands its Grand street and Housatonic plant. The city plans to use the donated East Main street site for neighborhood renewal and model cities projects while relocating city equipment to the Blue Ribbon garage and old Brass plant. A public hearing on the proposed abandonment of Housatonic avenue is set for Feb 5 at Council Chambers.
Six year old Michael Jersey, son of Donald and family of Ripton Ridge, died Saturday. Services were held yesterday at A. G. Baker funeral home with Pastor David W. Howell officiating. Burial followed at Lakeview Cemetery with bearers Russell Wilson, Robert Wilson, Stewart Jersey and Harold Sanders.
In South Vietnam 13 Viet Cong were killed and four captured while 10 Americans were wounded after two red traps backfired on Viet Cong forces. American B52s bombed bridges rails and barracks in North Vietnam as clouds limited damage estimates.

Hartford based CT Educational Television plans videotaping for a February program.
Edward J. Dennehy 45 of 51 Bancroft Avenue Bridgeport supervisor of maintenance for the city was reported in fair condition at Park City hospital after being taken there Sunday afternoon following an apparent mild heart attack at his home.
