Yale Cathedral Benefactor Of University Plans
A proposed grand cathedral for Yale University may be built in New Haven on College Street near Temple Street as the centerpiece of new campus plans. Conceived by Yale graduate James Gamble Rogers, the project awaits a New York financier’s approval and could cost several millions, with demolition of nearby structures for entrance on Elm Street. The structure would be the greatest monument in the region and boost New Haven’s status as a destination for visitors from the eastern states.
